The Lumbar Spinal Fusion Database
As one of the world's largest single centre databases for the monitoring of patients after lumbar spinal fusion surgery, the database today holds over 2200 patients. Approximately 150 new patients are registered each year. The medical questionnaire used by the surgeons was developed by the Orthopeadic Research Laboratory and was last revised in 2000. The patient questionnaire package is comprised of the Dallas Pain Questionnaire and Pain Drawing along with a number of additional questions developed by the lab to further the understanding of the patients experience. Data is collected from both surgeon and patient preoperatively, operatively (by the surgeon only) and again by both parties at 1 and 2 years following the initial proceedre.
